Referee Clinic with Doug Findlay

Certified Referee Instructor, Doug Findlay, is an FIE-licensed referee in foil and sabre. Doug has refereed over two dozen World Cup finals and was the U.S. referee for the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. After the 2012 London Games, he was selected as the World�s Best Foil Referee by the FIE. Addtionally, Doug coaches and holds Prevot de Fleuret certification from the USFCA. He�s also an experienced fencer and former Div1A National Champion. Attending an official clinic sanctioned by US Fencing's Referee Commission is a prerequisite for becoming a certified referee. Successful completion of a written exam is also required. Once a passing score (90%) has been achieved on the written exam (both the general and one or more weapon-specific sections) a referee receives a rating of "P" in each weapon passed. Number ratings (1-10) are later obtained by formal evaluation at tournaments. The written test is offered online and can be taken before or after attending an official clinic.
