A two-day clinic of fencing, learning and development for all Collegiate Club Fencers in Iowa and surrounding areas.

Presented by the Iowa State Fencing Club and Coach Alex Harms,

All clubs, all fencers welcome.
Any weapon, any experience level - Come help build fencing in the Midwest!

Topics for Athletes:
• Make new friends… then stab them
• Learn to direct your own training and become a better fencer: fencing fitness, footwork, and blade work
• Expand your understanding of all aspect of the sport
• Learn how to help to make your club awesome
• Fencing: Stab your friends (new and old)

Topics for Club Leaders:
• Learn how you can train your athletes without a dedicated coach
• Learn to plan practices and drills
• Learn about working with officials and organizations in your school and within the sport
• Create a plan for future officers, and continued club improvement year to year
• Learn about opportunities, and gain resources to make your club the best it can be

Topics for Your Whole Club:
• Strengthen relationships between other clubs in the area
• Develop a club culture based on the values of your members
• Create lifelong friendships and your ‘college family’ through fencing
• Learn about hosting events, procuring equipment, and running practices

Tuition: $50/Participant or $300 for ALL members of the same club together.
Lunch cost: $25/Participant (Includes lunch for both days of the clinic).
All costs must be received by close of preregistration so that accurate numbers can be received for participation and to offset advance costs of clinic materials.

About Coach Harms:
Alex has coached fencers since 2007. He is currently the Director of Foil Programming for the Des Moines Fencing Club. He is certified in all three fencing weapons by the US Fencing Coaches Association and International Academy of Arms. He earned his Professional Coaching designation in foil in 2012.

Alex has served as a coach and officer for the Des Moines Fencing Club, the University of Iowa Fencing Club, the Penn State Fencing Club. He is currently the president and chair of the Iowa Division of U.S. Fencing.
