ESCRIMEUR FENCERS CLUB IS HOSTING AN INTENSIVE SABRE CLINIC FOR YOUTH, CADET AND JUNIOR COMPETITIVE FENCERS with Reigning Div1 Sabre National Champion KAMALI THOMPSON. THURSDAY, MAY 25, 2017 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM The The 2.5 hour boot camp style clinic will focus on conditioning, footwork and bouting. The session will include physical exercises designed to increase power and speed, as well as footwork that focuses on controlling distance and timing. Bouting segment will center upon stamina and tactics. About KAMALI THOMPSON: Kamali Thompson is the reigning Div 1 Women's Sabre National Champion & is currently ranked 6th on the Sr Points list. She is the 2016 National Champion and took second at the 2015 National Championships. Kamali began fencing her freshman year at Teaneck High School and became a member of the Peter Westbrook Foundation (New York City, NY) in 2006. Kamali was later recruited by the Temple University fencing team. During her four years as a Temple Owl, she went on to become a four time NCAA Championship qualifier, a Second Team All- American, four time NIWFA Conference Champion, and Temple University Student Athlete of the Year Award twice (2011, 2012). During the 2015-2016 Olympic qualifying year, she was a two-time national silver medalist and finished the season ranked 6th. Kamali is not only a success on the strip but off it as well. She graduated from Temple University with honors, a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She is currently a 3rd year M.D/M.B.A student at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Student in New Jersey FEE SCHEDULE: Early fee: $40 per person if paid by Sunday May 14, 2017.
