This clinic will focus on coaching the fundamental actions, putting them into group and individual lessons, and how to include footwork as a tactical element in the lessons. The USFCA Moniteur practical exams will be offered. The instructors for the clinic will include Fencing Master Paul Sise and Bruce Gillman. Paul is head coach of Pioneer Valley Fencing Academy, the Associate chair of the US Fencing Coaches Association, author of A Basic Foil Companion, and has lots of experience organizing and teaching coaching clinics. Bruce is the head coach of Vassar's fencing team, the USFCA's Northeast VP, certified Prevot d'Armes, referee, and all around great guy. Fees: Save money by preregistering and paying prior to May 1st! The early registration fee is $120. If you register and pay on or after April 1st the fee is $150. Please pay by check to Candlewood Fencing Center. Fencers (non-coaches) wishing to attend and take a lot of lessons are encouraged to attend for $100 for the weekend. Exams: (Optional) USFCA Moniteur practical exams will be available. A limited number of exams will be offered. If you are interested in an exam, please email Paul Sise at paul.sise@pioneerfencing.com. Each weapon has separate practical exams, so if you would like to be a 3 weapon Moniteur, you'll need to take one written exam but register for, pay for, and take three separate practical exams. If demand for Moniteur exams is high, priority will be given to getting each person certified in one weapon rather than having only a of couple people take multiple exams. ------------------ How to register for USFCA exams: Requirements prior to practical examination (at clinic): -USFCA Membership -Website Password and User ID - To take on-line written tests. -Pass exam required written test. -Payment of exam fees to USFCA 1.
