Fencing Coaching Certification - Moniteur (4.0 CEU/ 40 contact hours) * CEU certification in process Course Description: This Fencing Moniteur course will focus on teaching fencing methodology, drill types and progressions, techniques and tactics, fitness and exercise, safety and risk management, planning group lessons, and rules/ terminology of the Olympic sport of fencing. The Moniteur level is a professional fencing certification regulated by the United States Fencing Coaches Association. The knowledge gained through this first level of certification will allow the coach to teach group recreational fencing classes in a club, community centers, and school programs without direct supervision. Certification Requirements: •Reading USFA Rulebook (available at www.usfencing.org), Fencing Glossary & Terms and Coaches Guide to Sport Physiology (available at www.usfca.org) •Fencing gear (jacket, mask, weapon, glove underarm, and chest protector) •Member of United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) prior to written exam (require to pass with 75% of written exam to take practical exam) •Written exam must be taken online through USFCA (require to pay an online fee) •Practical exam must pass with a minimum of 75% for Moniteur certification (require to pay practical exam online prior to take live exam).The practical exam is administered on the last day of class.
