AFM Winter Fencing Camp 2016 (Epee)

The Academy of Fencing Masters (AFM) will conduct a premier five day Winter Fencing Camp from Monday December 26 to Friday December 30, 2016. Youth/Cadet/Junior epee fencers are invited to attend. This intensive camp will provide mid-season specialized training for epee fencers who want to improve their game.. The Academy of Fencing Master’s Winter Fencing Camp is specifically designed to improve physical condition of athletes strengthen fencing technique and hone tactical skills. The camp is directed by world class AFM Coaches. AFM Winter Fencing Camp includes: • physical training and conditioning • footwork, drills and developmental exercises • coached open bouting • bout tactics and strategy, • mental training for success Coaches will work with participants to improve their fencing skills and provide constructive feedback on technique and on-strip strategies to help athletes to adjust their game during fencing bouts. Each athlete will be challenged to think critically and develop approaches and methods to improve their fencing performance and empower themselves in their own training afterwards. AFM Winter Camp is ideal intensive training opportunity for competitive fencers to help them prepare for national level competitions including the January NAC and Junior Olympics and other regional and national tournaments. The supportive environment it is also a great way for all intermediate youth fencers to improve their foil or epee skills, conditioning and understanding of tactics and strategy. Length: 5 Days Dates: Monday December 26 – Friday December 30, 2016 Times Camp Hours: 9am – 3pm AFM has high quality new facilities with space for fencers to hangout during off training hours after the drop off and before the pick-up times. Location: Academy of Fencing Masters 86 Railway Ave., Campbell, CA 95008 Cost: $495 for the entire week with a second sibling discount of 10% To complete pre-registration a full payment must be paid on askFRED prior to preregistration closing. Cancelation policy: • Until November 29 - Payment is 100% refundable • From November 30 - Payment is not refundable Equipment: Fencing exercises and bouts will be performed on electrical fencing equipment, each camper should bring: • 2 (or more)working weapons and body cords, • full fencing outfit including knickers and long socks • Two changes of clothes (at least T-shirts) to change before lunch and at the end of camp. • A healthy lunch Space is limited so early registration is advisable.
