GRAFA Epee Camp with Notre Dame Coach Gia Kvaratskhelia & GRAFA Coaches Mikhail & Arkadiy Sarkisov's Gia Kvaratskhelia, Notre Dame Head Fencing Coach, who lead Notre Dame fencing squad to NCAA Champions 2011 will be participating in this camp This camp is the last of four cumulative camps to be held at Grand Rapids Fencing Academy during the 2015-2016 fencing season. This camp will continue to build on the knowledge of the previous sessions. We will be incorporating the strategy matrix that was taught by Coach Mikhail in our spring camp with the techniques that was covered by coach Gia in our fall and winter camp. In additions, on Sunday, coach Arkadiy will be teaching an additional strategy ideas that will greatly benefit the fencers in preparation for the Summer Nationals. Designed for the intermediate and advanced fencer, it will focus on the preparation of youth fencers for the 2017 Summer Nationals. THIS CAMP IS LIMITED TO 40 FENCERS MAXIMUM. TOTAL NUMBER WILL INCLUDE FOIL CAMP REGITRANTS. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT OF $100 IS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF THE REGISTRATION TO RESERVE THE SPOT IN THE CAMP. ***** **** PLEASE NOTE, DUE TO A HIGHT DEMAND FOR THIS CANP, YOUR PREREGISTARTION WILL BE APPORVED AND THE SPACE IN THE CAMP GUARANTEED ONLY AFTER WE RECEIVE YOUR DEPOSIT !!!!! ***** Maestros Mikhail and Arkadiy Sarkisov, the head coaches of GRAFA, will be the instructors along with Coach Gia. Both Maestros hold a BS degree in Physical Education from Russian University and a Master’s degree in Fencing. They were Gold Medalists of the Soviet Union in 1985, medalists at the USSR Nationals from 1986-1989 and finalists at the World Cup and Student World Game competitions. In 2005 Maestro Mikhail Sarkisov has been recognized by US Olympic Committee as Developmental Coach of the Year. Many of his students successfully compete on National and International levels. The Maestros trained several USA National Champions. Several of the Maestros student successfully fenced on NCAA Championship earning “First Team All American” Honor and “All American Recognition” competing for the universities as Northwestern, Notre Dame, Temple, and Cornell. Mikhail and Arkadiy have been developing fencing in the Grand Rapids Metro area since 1993. Fencers will be divided into age groups and or by fencing experience. Students should have a minimum of 1 year fencing experience. The camp will be limited to 40 fencers. Host families of members of Grand Rapids Fencing Academy will provide accommodations and meals. Lunch for the both days of the camp will be provided by GRAFA. Day 1 lunch will be catered by local pizza parlor. Day 2 lunch will be catered by Subway Tuition: $220.00 with accommodation and meals $200.00 without accommodation and meals. For those fencers and their families who would like to stay in the nearby hotels: Grand Rapids fencing Academy located in the prime and one of the safest areas of the north past of Grand Rapids downtown. Any hotel within close proximity to GRAFA is a good choice for the weekend accommodation.
