AFM Summer Nationals (2015) Preparation Camp #2

Athletes will experience intensive immersion in fencing, honing specific techniques, strategies and tactics, in numerous bouts and tournaments and engaging in mental training for success. The entire camp is conducted to ensure that fencers reach peak readiness in time for the most important competition of the year. Coaches will work with each participant individually to improve their fencing skills and provide constructive feedback on technique and on-strip strategies to help athletes adjust their game during fencing bouts. Each athlete will be challenged to think critically and develop approaches and methods to improve their own fencing performance and empower themselves in national competition and their training afterwards. The camp is directed by world class AFM Coaches Alexandr Maximovich and Natasha Maximovich, Ph.D. Youth/Cadet/Junior fencers are invited to attend. AFM Summer Nationals Preparation Camp includes: • physical training and conditioning • footwork, drills and developmental exercises • coached open bouting • bout tactics and strategy, • mental training for success • sport psychology sessions (group and individual) Dates: Monday June 22 – Friday June 26, 2015 Camp Hours: 9am – 3pm For achieving peak performance it is best to attend both camp #1 and #2. Location: Academy of Fencing Masters 86 Railway Ave., Campbell, CA 95008 Cost: $595 for 1 week camp 10% discount if attending 2 weeks camp 15% discount for second sibling (double discount for second week applies as well) To complete pre-registration a deposit of $100 must be paid on askFRED. Cancelation policy: • Until May 1 - deposit is 100% refundable • From May 1 till May 15 - deposit is 50% refundable • After May 15 - deposit is not refundable The camp fees need to be paid in full on the first day of camp. Please send an email to the camp organizer that specifies: • Name of the participant • Date of birth • Parents email and phone numbers for contact about the camp Equipment: Fencing exercises and bouts will be performed on electrical fencing equipment, each camper should bring: • 2 (or more)working weapons and body cords, • fencing outfit (jacket, mask, gloves, underarm protector, good shoes) (fencing knickers and socks are optional) • Two changes of clothes (at least T-shirts) to change before lunch and at the end of the camp. • A healthy lunch Space is limited so early registration is advisable.
