It's been four years since we held our last Kumite (pronounced koo-mi-tay) in Santa Barbara. You have had four years to train. Now, as school ends, and as you prepare for Summer Nationals, we invite you back for some big trouble in our little town. Prove you are the best of the best, and see how many more references to martial arts classics we can ruin.
The Championship Event is restricted to foil fencers with a D rating or higher. We will have a number of prizes available, all to be awarded for achieving great feats of fencing prowess during the tournament. And the grand prize? A sword. We're not saying this sword has magical powers, or that it was sharpened with the laughter of a unicorn. But we're not denying it either.
And following the Championship Event, we will host "training" tournaments for E-and-Under Fencers. Like the main event, the E-and-Under tournaments are USFA-sanctioned. They are opportunities for novices to earn that D-rating, and to possibly enter the next Kumite.
Entrance fees are $25 with pre-registration on FRED. $40 without pre-registration.
USFA Competitive Membership is required, and all USFA rules regarding equipment and safety will be strictly enforced.
A note about Parking:
Please park in the City Parking Lot across the street. Do not use the parking spaces next to the venue. Our neighbors are open for business on Sundays, and we want their customers to have some spaces available.

10:00 am: D & Above Senior Mixed Event Foil - The Championship Event
1:00 pm: E & Under Senior Women's Foil - Training Event 1
1:30 pm: E & Under Senior Mixed Foil - Training Event 2
A note about scheduling:
We may have to reschedule the training events due to pre-registration numbers. We hope to hold a separate women's foil, and then a mixed foil, giving female fencers the option to join a larger tournament in the event that theirs is too small. All pre-registrants will be notified of any schedule changes by Thursday, June 5.
