Welcome to the Bluff City Open 2012! We invite you to cross blades with the finest local fencers in Foil, Épée, and Sabre! Enjoy a little river-city action, grab some local BBQ, and perhaps take home an award or two! EN GARDE! ------------------ Important Info: ------------------- The Bluff City Open 2012! We'll have a grand time fencing in the events below for trophies and medals! Come young, come old, come one, come all!! Spectators and future fencers welcome to come and watch! NO admission fee for observers! Collegiate fencers - new and experienced - come and test your skill against fellow college students from around the SouthEast. Represent your school to earn bragging rights in an open mixed epee tournament. Any current college student may compete. Will have to show current student college ID when registering at the competition. USFA Membership is NOT necessary although USFA rules will be followed. LOCATION: TBA REQUIREMENTS: USFA ID/MEMBERSHIP: Required for ALL events EXCEPT Novice Epee, Youth Epee, and Collegiate Open. These are non-ratable events. ALL other events REQUIRE proof of USFA membership. (Check out usfencing.org for membership options, including the one-day membership deal.) PLASTRON: ALL competitive fencers must have a plastron underneath their jacket - REQUIRED. We will have a FEW onsite - HOWEVER, to be safe, order your own (they cost very little at absolutefencinggear.com) FENCING PANTS: are SEVERELY recommended, any sweatpants will have to be taped shut while we frown at you. WEAPONS: Each fencer MUST HAVE THEIR OWN WORKING WEAPON + BODYCORD. TWO are highly recommended or face losing points if your equipment fails you (which it will) and you cannot borrow what you need. FEES: THERE IS NO ADMISSION FEE for observers. Only competing fencers will pay a Registration Fee of $20.00 (includes ONE event) and then $10 per event thereafter. Competing fencers who enter AT THE DOOR instead of pre-registering will pay $25.00 for the first event, then $15 per event thereafter. College students will pay $10 if pre-registered, $20 if you just show up. ****************Events Scheduled***************** -- SATURDAY MARCH 17 -- Open Mixed Epee (ages 13-up): Registration opens at 8am. Closes at 8:55am. Starts 9:00am Novice Unrated Mixed Epee - (ages 13-up, non-ratable): Registration opens at 8am. Closes at 11:55am. Starts 12:00pm Collegiate Open Epee - (College students only with ID): Registration opens at 8am. Closes at 2:55pm. Starts 3:00pm Y12 Mixed Epee (ages 9 - 12, non-ratable): Registration opens at 8am. Closes at 2:55pm. Starts 3:00pm -- SUNDAY MARCH 18 -- Open Mixed Sabre (ages 13-up): Reg opens at 12:30pm. Closes at 1:00pm. Starts 1:15pm. D-Under Mixed Foil (ages 13-up): Reg. opens at 12:30pm. Closes at 2:55pm. Starts 3:00pm. PRIZES: Trophies awarded for 1st in all events, Medals for all other places. We will fence off for 3rd. One Trophy for Best Overall Female Fencer and Male Fencer in each weapon.
