ENTRY
Birth year requirements (2009-2010 season)
• Youth 10 1999-2002
• Youth 12 1997-2000, or on Youth 10 NRP List
• Youth 14 1995-1998, or on Youth 12 NRP List
If you are on the NRP list and your entry is rejected for age, contact us and we will handle your entry.
The USFA requires ALL fencers to show a birth certificate or other government-issued identification with a birth date before they fence in their first competition of the tournament. A copy is sufficient.
- USFA rules apply.
- Full USFA regulation uniform is required. NAME IS REQUIRED ON UNIFORM.
- Must have at least two working weapons and two body cords.
- USFA Membership required - forms will be available at the venue. Checks for USFA membership must be made out to the USFA or use credit card.
- Y10 fencers must fence with blades no longer than 32 inches.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY: A signed waiver is required - click "Download waiver" and present at check-in. Note, photography, filming, recording or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by the host organization and the USFA. Note on the waiver if you wish to opt out of media coverage, and those opting out of media coverage must present the form in person to the Bout Committee.
FEES (per USFA)
On-line registration closes Feb 18, 2010. No new registrations after 2/18 and No walk-ins. Payment must be made for entry to be complete. Payments taken through FRED or by check (e-mail organizer for mailing instructions)

REGISTRATION FEES AND EVENT FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AFTER FEBRUARY 5TH
FORMAT
- Seeding: Current National Youth ranking within classification (filters down the entire list), then letter ranking with year classification.
- Only official USFA ratings will be used. Ratings will be verified prior to the event.
- Only events with fewer than 5 entries of one gender will be mixed.
- Pools: One round of 5-touch/3 minute bouts. 100% advance to direct elimination rounds.
- Direct Elimination: For Y14, DE bouts are 15 touch/9-minute bouts. For Y10-Y12, DE bouts are best 2 of 3 5-touch bouts. During the 1-minute breaks, ONE PERSON designated by the fencer (team-mate, coach, or parent) may be on the strip with the fencer.
- There is no fence-off for third place. Medals awarded to Top 8.
- SYC competitions award points to the top 40% of the field regardless of where the cut-off occurs, i.e. if there are 17 fencers- 40% of 17 is 6.8 - only the top 6 finishers (not top 7) earn points.
- Classifications can be awarded, however youth events must exceed criteria in Group C1 or higher to award changes in classifications.

EQUIPMENT
Visor masks will no longer be allowed at USFA competitions for Epee and Foil, effective immediately. This is a safety decision precipitated by a release from the FIE following lab results from the FIE Visor foil mask which was pierced at the 2009 European Junior Championships in Odense (November 2009). For further details see the USFA page on this topic.
Equipment (masks, lames, and electric cords) will be inspected and marked by the armorer. Penalty incurred for presenting to strip without official marks.

From Manhattan by train: PATH train from Manhattan to Hoboken. The walk would be about 20 minutes. Taxis available in Hoboken (appx 4 minute ride to Cobra). Have the cab take Observer Highway West and turn left on Grove St. The Lackawanna Warehouse is on the right-hand side between 18th and 16th St.
