Call 973-477-5642 if delayed. 3rd ANNUAL BARBARA LYNCH CHARITY REGIONAL YOUTH CIRCUIT Y8-14 - All Weapons December 19-20, 2009 - Maplewood, NJ Open to all USFA members (you can join at the door) and foreign fencers (bring proof of federation membership). USFA membership is not required for Y8 fencers, as this is an unofficial category and participation is at parent discretion. A signed waiver is required for all fencers. Please download the attached waiver and present at check-in. This RYC fulfills the qualifying path for Y10/12 fencers to compete at Summer Nationals or April Youth NAC. Attending a RYC will qualify that individual in the respective event and age category fenced. Ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications; these events are NR until they reach C1 level or higher. **NJFA Youth Cup points will be awarded toward 2009-10 NJFA Youth Cup Series prizes. Points are awarded for first 8 places in each event (there is no fence-off for third at this RYC so third place points will be awarded to both 3rd place fencers). Barbara Lynch is well known in New Jersey fencing and in the National fencing arena. She has given tirelessly to the sport and is well known as an advocate for youth fencers. She has been involved in NJ Fencing for over 30 years. She is a former president of the NJ Division and has been coach at Morris Hills High School for many years. She has been involved at the National level with USFA Bout Committee. This RYC honors her and thanks her for her work on behalf of young fencers. FEES ** All fees are nonrefundable.** Preregistered: $10 registration fee plus $35 per event whether paid through FRED or at door. Credit cards accepted at the door. The USFA is working towards an age verification process. This season, parents should come prepared with ONE of the following in case the fencer’s age needs verification for eligibility purposes: - A government issued photo ID with date of birth included, - or, a copy of birth certificate - or, a passport A signed waiver is required; download attached waiver and present at check-in. * Photography, filming, recording, or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by the host organization and the USFA. Those individuals wishing to opt out of media coverage must see the Bout Committee. Valid USFA or any foreign federation membership required (except Y8 events)- you MUST show your USFA card or have proof that payment has been made. You may join the USFA at the door, however arrive with a completed form or plan to come early to complete the necessary paperwork. Parent signature required. Use your credit card for USFA payment. Full uniform is required, including mask, jacket, plastron, fencing knickers, knee-length socks, lame, and glove. All fencers must wear required fencing attire and MUST bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords. NOTE: If you are fencing in a Y8 or Y10 event - you must have a #2 or #0 blade (i.e. less than 32.5 inches long). NAME IS NOT REQUIRED ON UNIFORM. TOURNAMENT FORMAT USFA rules apply. Initial seeding with National Youth Points/Rating/Year Gender-separate events; events with less than 6 fencers may be mixed. One round of pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination rounds. Format for Y8 events will depend on number of fencers and will be announced after close of check-in. Medals awarded to 8th place.
