NJFA Veteran All Weapons

VETERAN - All Weapons Open to all fencers born 1968 or before. New Jersey Division-sanctioned event and ratings can be awarded. Tournament will be cancelled if less than 6 PAID preregistered fencers. Valid USFA membership is required. You MUST show your USFA card or have proof that payment has been made. You may join at the door, however please arrive with a completed form or plan to come early to complete required paperwork. Please use your credit card (preferred) for your USFA membership payment or have separate check made out to USFA. All fencers must wear required fencing attire and bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords. FEES $10 registration fee (nonrefundable)and $20 per event if preregistered and paid through FRED) $10 registration fee and $25 per event if preregistered with payment made at the door $40 walk-in without preregistration. Payments made at the door must be in cash or check only - CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED at the door. TOURNAMENT FORMAT Tournament format will depend on number of fencers and decision will be made at the time of the event. Options include if 7 or less, two rounds of pools - No DE. If 7 or more one round of pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination rounds. No fence-off for third place. Medals awarded to 3rd place. LOCATION New Jersey Fencing Alliance is located at 50-58 Burnett Avenue (use 54 Burnett AVENUE for Mapquest); Maplewood, NJ. NJFA is conveniently located near all major highways in NJ, NY, CT, and Pennsylvania and minutes from Manhattan by train or car. NJFA is only 1.5 miles from the Maplewood Train Station. Letter to Veteran Fencers from Jim Simpson February 7, 2009 Dear Veteran Fencers: I understand your club has several veteran fencers that recently attended the ‘Ole Geezers tournament at Candlewood in CT. Please get the word out that Long Island NY is also having a veteran tournament. Unfortunately the dire economy has affected our fencing community in 2009. I believe the situation will recover for next year but we have to continue for this year. The Masters Division of the Empire State Games has been suspended due to a lack of state funding. I have organized a tournament for Saturday June 13, 2009 at the Island Fencing Academy in Plainview at noon. Preregistration is available on the web at www.askfred.net . This tournament is held around the same time as the Long Island Senior Games but will not be affiliated with them.
