NJFA Youth (Y8-Y14) All Weapons

This is the 4th event in the 2008-09 NJFA Youth Cup Series, open to all fencers born 1994-2002 (see age guidelines below). This is a great opportunity for young fencers to gain valuable tournament experience, whether pursuing Cup prizes or not. This event is sanctioned by the NJ Division of the USFA and ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications. This means that these events are “NR” until they achieve a C1 level or higher. Cup Info All NJFA youth events held from September 2008 through June 2009 are eligible for Youth Cup prizes. Points will be awarded for first 5 places in each event. Points will be cumulative and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 point finishers in each event at the last tournament of the series. Medals will be awarded at each event. Events are scheduled this season Sep 27, Oct 12, Nov 8, Jan 11, Feb 15, Apr 19, May 24, June 21. Double points will be awarded Sep 27 and June 21. ENTRY Fencers must meet USFA birth year requirements. 2008-09 USFA Birth Year Eligibility: Y8 = 1999-2002 (non-USFA category) Y10 = 1998-2001 Y12 = 1996-1999 Y14 = 1994-1997 A fencer may compete in the next higher age bracket if on the current National Points List, i.e. a fencer on the current Y12 points list may fence Y14. If your entry is rejected for age, contact us and we will handle your entry. You must have valid USFA membership (except Y8 events) and you MUST show your USFA card or have proof that payment has been made. You may join at the door, however please arrive with a completed form or plan to come early to complete the necessary paperwork. Parent signature required. Please have separate checks made out to USFA or use your credit card for USFA payment. All fencers must wear required fencing attire and bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords. NOTE: If you are fencing in a Y8/10 event - you must have a #2 or #0 blade... FEES $10 registration fee (nonrefundable) plus $20 per event if preregistered and payment through FRED. $10 registration fee plus $25 per event if preregistered and payment at the door. $10 registration fee plus $30 per event if walk-in (without preregistration). Payments made at the door must be in cash or check only. CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Refund requests (event fee only) must be received at least 2 days prior to the event. NJFA members receive $10 discount- if paid through FRED adjustment will be made at the door. One round of pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination rounds. Fence-off for third place. The Y8 events will be one or two rounds of pools (depending on number of fencers) without direct elimination round. Medals awarded to 3rd place. NJFA is conveniently located near all major highways in NJ, NY, CT, and Pennsylvania NJFA is only 1.5 miles from the Maplewood Train Station. NJFA is a state-of-the art 17,000 sf fencing salle offering 18 grounded metal strips with machines located in the middle as well as repeater lights at each end.
