The First Annual Yonso Project Charity Epee Tournament is a benefit event designed to raise funds to save an endangered population of monkeys in Ghana, West Africa. Net proceeds from the event will go toward funding an ecotourism enterprise in which poachers who have previously hunted these animals, will be given an opportunity for alternative employment working to protect this endangered species and to help fund scholarship programs for local school children. Receipts will be provided on request. This event is sanctioned by the Philadelphia Division and ratings can be awarded. It is open to all fencers born 1995 or before. The following awards have been generously donated by Absolute Fencing Gear, Bridgewater, NJ.: 1st Place: $200 2nd Place: $100 Top Finishing Junior* fencer: $60 All prizes given in the form of gift certificates to Absolute Fencing Gear. *Born after August 24th 1990 Cash or check only accepted. $50 entry fee payable at the door. Cash & exact change is always appreciated. Sorry - no discount for A-rated fencers at this event. 10:00 a.m. check-in (closes) Current valid USFA membership is required. This is the new fencing season (1-year memberships expired July 31). You MUST show your USFA card or have proof that payment has been made. You may join/renew at the door, however please arrive with a completed membership form (parent signature required for fencers under age 18). USFA membership forms can be downloaded at www.usfencing.org or plan to come early to complete required paperwork. Please have separate checks made out to USFA or use your credit card for your USFA membership payment. All fencers are expected to wear the required fencing attire and bring at least two weapons and body cords that meet USFA requirements. There are no exceptions to the attire and equipment rules. You must have a valid USFA membership or join the USFA at the event.PLEASE bring in a COMPLETED USFA membership form with you if at all possible. Directions can be found on http://www.bcaf.com. TOURNAMENT FORMAT One round of pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination rounds. No fence-off for third place; medals awarded to 3rd place Snacks & beverages available for purchase. Pizza will be brought in for lunch at $2/slice. Doors open one hour before close of check-in.
