NJFA Youth (Y8-Y14) All Weapons

This is the second event in the 2007-08 NJFA Youth Cup Series. All youth events held from September 2007 through June 2008 are eligible for Youth Cup prizes. Cup points will be awarded for first 5 places in each event. Points will be cumulative and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 point finishers in each event at the last tournament of the series. This is a great opportunity for young fencers to gain valuable tournament experience. This event is sanctioned by the NJ Division of the USFA and ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications. This means that these events are “NR” until they achieve a C1 level or higher. You must have valid USFA membership - you MUST show your USFA card or have proof that payment has been made. You may join at the door (parent signature required), however please arrive with a completed form or plan to come early to complete the necessary paperwork. Please have separate checks made out to USFA or use your credit card for USFA payment. All fencers must wear required fencing attire and bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords. NOTE: If you are fencing in a Y10 event - you must have a #2 or #0 blade... Fencers must meet USFA birth year requirements. 2007-08 USFA Birth Year Eligibility: *Y8 = 1999-2001; *Note, Y8 is not a USFA category and is not sanctioned by the NJ Division. It is for fun and practice, and participation is at parent discretion. Y10 = 1997-2000 Y12 = 1995-1998 Y14 = 1993-1996 FEES NJFA made an effort to keep tournament fees low however due to a $5 assessment per fencer per weapon by the NJ Division we must pass this fee along to the fencers. $30 paid preregistration $35 preregistration without payment (pay at the door) $40 walk-in - without preregistration Payments made at the door must be in cash or check only. CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. One round of pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination rounds. Fence-off for third place. LOCATION New Jersey Fencing Alliance is located at 50-58 Burnett Avenue (use 54 Burnett Avenue for Mapquest); Maplewood, NJ. NJFA is conveniently located near all major highways in NJ, NY, CT, and Pennsylvania NJFA is only 1.5 miles from the Maplewood Train Station (call ahead or e-mail at least 2 days prior to the event (973-224-3448 or c.delaney1@verizon.net)and NJFA will provide free shuttle service from and to the train. NJFA is a state-of-the art 17,000 sf fencing salle offering 18 grounded metal strips with machines located in the middle as well as repeater lights at each end. NJFA additionally offers Internet service as well as 230 on-site FREE parking spaces. Preregistration opens on 09/04/2007. Preregistration closes on 10/06/2007.
