It's a winter wonderland of epees! So grab yours and join us. Events for Youth, Senior, and Team, as well as one-touch (full round-robin), and wheelchair! Events Scheduled: Unrated Mixed Epee - 9:00 am Y12 Mixed Epee - 9:30 am Mixed AFL One-Touch Epee - 11:00 am (unsanctioned) Senior Mixed Epee - 1:00 pm Mixed Wheelchair Epee - 2:30 pm (unsanctioned) Mixed Team Epee - 3:30 pm The following are unsanctioned events open to all that we think you might enjoy. These events are only $5, so why not give them a try! Mixed AFL One-Touch Epee (all ages) Check-in closes at 11:00 a.m. Come a little earlier and fence in this always-popular event. It's fast and furious, with no room for error, as every single touch counts! It's great practice for end-of-bout and priority situations. Format will be a complete round-robin, with fence-offs to break ties per AFL rules. Bouts are for one minute, one touch; double-touches are double defeats; time expiring is also a double defeat. Mixed Wheelchair (able-bodied, too!) Epee (all ages) Check-in closes at 2:30 p.m. Join us for the second annual local wheelchair fencing competition in Oregon! Because of the small number of 'chair fencers, we are also opening this event to able-bodied fencers, which will make it an unsanctioned event. Due to the difficulty in getting fencers in and out of the frame, the format will one round of pools, but bouts will be to 15-points. If the event has four or fewer fencers, we will run two rounds of pools. Please note that a full uniform is required, including knickers, socks, and shoes. We will provide the aprons. Medal and ribbons will be awarded to the highest-placing disabled fencers. A soup, salad and bread lunch will be available for $4.00 per person OTHER NOTES Cost is $15 registration, plus $10 per event. Unsanctioned events are $5 each. Please bring cash or checks ONLY, as we do not accept debit/credit at tournaments. Medals will be awarded for first place; ribbons for second and third place. We will have four grounded strips, which may or may not be used for your event. USFA membership is required for ALL events, and is available at the tournament; USFA non-competitive members may only fence in unsanctioned events. USFA membership, including upgrades to competitive memberships, can be purchased at the tournament. Save time: make sure yours is current, and renew online at https://www.railstation.org/usfencing/default.aspx before you arrive if it is not! All events require USFA/AFL-compliant mask, glove, knickers, UAP, socks, and jacket (name stenciling NOT required). Please note that while USFA events allow colored uniforms, etc., AFL events usually require white uniforms, including socks, however, colored socks will be allowed for this event. Electrical equipment is mandatory for all events, including One-Touch Epee. AFL rules and requirements can be viewed online at http://www.americanfencingleague.org. A soup, salad and bread lunch will be available for $4.00 per person Location: We are just off of 25th & McGilchrist, near the Salem airport, and just five minutes off of I-5 exit 253 (Hwy 22). Come fence on our fully suspended floor with state-of-the-art under-strip illumination. Feed your coffee habit at Bad Girls Coffee, right across the street from us. DO NOT USE Google maps to find us - they still have our old location listed on Belmont St. Preregistration opens on 01/10/2014. Preregistration closes on 02/07/2014.
