The Battle in Seattle is traditionally one of the Western Washington Division's largest annual events, drawing top fencers from all over the Pacific Northwest.
This year, the Battle in Seattle is again part of the Regional Open Circuit (ROC). The top 8 finishers in the senior events will qualify for Division I-A at Summer Nationals.
Veteran fencers that compete in the senior events will automatically qualify for the corresponding veteran event at Summer Nationals. Competing in the veteran events on Friday evening WILL NOT qualify you for Summer Nationals.

Friday 1/27/12:
6:00 pm - Doors open
6:30 pm - Veteran Mixed Foil, Epee, and Saber
Saturday 1/28/12:
7:00 am -- Doors open
8:00 am -- Senior Women's Foil & Senior Men's Saber
11:30 am -- Senior Men's Epee
Sunday 1/29/12:
7:00 am -- Doors open
8:00 am -- Senior Men's Foil
Noon -- Senior Women's Epee
2:00 pm -- Senior Women's Saber
All times are close of registration. Arrive early to get your equipment checked! We will be running on a strict schedule so your promptness is appreciated.
Fencers may NOT fence in two simultaneous events without the prior permission from the bout committee.
All events will be fenced as a single round of pools, followed by straight direct-elimination, no fence-off for third.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 8 finishers in the senior events, and top 4 in the veteran events.

Registration fees will vary depending on when you make your payment:
Before January 22, 2012:
- $25 registration fee
- $25 per senior event
- $10 per veteran event
After January 22, 2012 (at 11:59pm PST):
- $50 registration fee
- $50 per senior event
- $20 per veteran event
All tournament fees must be pre-paid on AskFRED (*see note below).
Registration fees are non-refundable. For refunds of event fees, use the refund form on http://www.wwdfencing.org.

---------- Tournament Rules ----------
All fencers must be current competitive members of the USFA. You may join or renew your USFA membership at the door. Foreign fencers must be members of their nation's fencing association or possess an FIE license.
Full USFA regulation uniform is required, including plastron, knickers, and knee-length socks. No jeans or sweatpants allowed. Names are NOT required on fencer uniforms.
USA Fencing has NOT yet adopted the electric foil mask bib for these events, so "standard" foil/epee masks may be used. Fencers may wear masks with the new bib, but any touches registered on the bib will NOT be annulled as per rule t.54(1c)
USFA rules require that all participants were born in 1998 or earlier. The veteran events are open to all fencers born in 1971 or earlier.
---------- Equipment Check ----------
Please arrive early to allow time for equipment checks. We will be checking masks, lames, and bodycords.
Fencers in the Seattle area can get equipment checked prior to the event at the following times:
- Wednesday, 1/25 at Salle Auriol Seattle from 7:30 - 9:00pm
- Thursday, 1/26 at Salle Auriol Seattle and Rain City Fencing center from 7:30 - 9:00pm
- Friday, 1/27 at Rain City Fencing Center from 6:00 - 9:00pm (Priority will be given to those fencing in the vet events until after the pools have started)

Official Battle in Seattle T-Shirts will be available during the event. Shirts can be pre-ordered when you pay your entry fee for the discounted price of $10. If you do not pre-order a shirt, you can buy a shirt at the event for $15. Supplies are limited, so pre-order to reserve your shirt today!
