FIRST EVENT IN THE 2010-11 NJFA YOUTH CUP SERIES. Double points awarded today !!. Great opportunity for young fencers to gain valuable tournament experience, whether pursuing Cup prizes or not. The 2009-10 season drew over 1700 fencers, representing 84 Clubs from 20 USFA divisions and Canada!. Events scheduled so far: Oct 3, Nov 14, Jan 2, Mar 6. Tentative dates (subject to change): Apr 3, May 29, June 12. Event is sanctioned by the NJ Division of the USFA and ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications. This means that these events are “NR” until they achieve a C1 level or higher. Event registration will be gender-separated; however events with less than 6 fencers will be mixed.Cup points will be awarded to top 8 finishers in each event. Points will be cumulative and prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top 3 point finishers in each event at the last tournament of the series. Medals will be awarded at each tournament to top 3 places in each event; there is a fence-off for third. Should there be a tie in point totals at the end of the season, the fencer with the highest finish in the final event will be declared the winner. ENTRY • Mandatory weapons check. Arrive early to have weapons checked before fencing begins. • Must wear required fencing attire and bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords. NOTE: Y8/10 fencers must have a #2 or #0 blade (i.e. less than 32.5 inches) • Fencers must meet USFA birth year requirements. 2010-11 USFA Birth Year Eligibility: Y8 = suggested 2002-2004 (*not a USFA category, participation is at parent discretion and USFA membership is not required) Y10 = 2000-2003 Y12 = 1998-2001, or on Youth 10 NRP List Y14 = 1996-1999, or on Youth 12 NRP List A fencer may compete in the next higher age bracket if on the current National Points List, i.e. a fencer on the current Y12 points list may fence Y14. If your entry is rejected for age, contact us and we will handle your entry. • Current valid USFA membership is required (except Y8). You MUST show your USFA card or have proof (receipt) that payment has been made. If you have joined and your name appears on the on-line membership list but have not yet received a card, visit usfencing.org and follow instruction to print your own card. You may join/renew at the door(parent signature required for fencers under age 18). USFA membership forms can be downloaded at http://usfencing.org/us-fencing-membership,or plan to come early to complete required paperwork. Have separate checks made out to USFA or use your credit card for your USFA membership payment. • Liability waiver - Upon entering this tournament you agree to abide by the current rules of the USFA and other applicable rules instituted by NJFA. You acknowledge you are entering this tournament at your own risk and release the USFA and its sponsors, NJFA, and referees from any liability. With entry you give consent to NJFA to obtain medical care from any licensed physician, hospital or clinic for any injury or illness that may arise during activities associated with this tournament. • Photography, filming, recording, or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by NJFA and the USFA. Those wishing to opt out of media coverage must inform the Bout Committee.** FEES Save by paying on-line • $10 registration fee (nonrefundable) plus $25 per event if preregistered AND payment made through FRED. Preregistration closes 10/02/2010. • Incomplete registrations (payments made at door): $10 registration fee plus $35 per event. • $10 registration fee plus $40 per event if walk-in (without preregistration). Payments made at the door must be in cash or check only. CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Refund requests (event fee only) must be received at least 2 days prior to the event. This means that these events are “NR” until they achieve a C1 level or higher. Fencers are responsible for ensuring accuracy of all posted information and must report errors to the bout committee immediately.
