SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! SabreCave 2010 has been designated a Qualifying event for the New York City Fencing Master's Event (http://www.fencingmastersnyc.com). The champion of SabreCave will be invited to fence New York City on November 17th with the winners of the other qualifying events. The winner of the Club Champion's Expo will participate as part of "Team USA" with Tim Morehouse, Ben Igoe and Darryl Homer as they take on "Team Europe" (Montano, Lopez, Marti, O'Connell) in a Televised Gala event at the Hammerstein Ballroom. To sweeten the pot, SabreCave is offering a free airline ticket to the winner of Mixed Sabre to participate in this gala event in New York City! Limited to 8 teams, 3(or 4) fencers each, may be composed of members from different clubs. BIRTH YEAR LIMITATIONS (2010-2011 season) •Senior events: 1997 or before •Youth 14 event: 1999-1999 •Youth 10/12 event 1998-2003 ENTRY FEES Individual events Advance Registration: $25 At the Door: $45 Event fees: $15 Special fee for NYC Fencing Masters round - $40. *** Please see notes regarding format below *** This fee goes ENTIRELY to the NYC Fencing Master's organizers to help support the dreams of US Olympic Fencers. Prepayment not required, but appreciated! Team event $55 per team, in advance or at the door. Limited to first eight teams that register and PAY. Teams are not restricted to members of one club. WILL BE HELD IF TIME ALLOWS. TOURNAMENT ORGANIZATION All events will be fenced electrically. Masks, body cords, cuffs and lames will be subject to equipment control. Original seeding will be according to USFA Operations Manual for Senior and Youth events. One round of pools will be fenced; 100% promoted to DE's of 15 touches (2 out of 3 five touch bouts for Y10 & Y12). Initial seeding, seeding after pools and final placements will be posted in the venue. Fencers are responsible for verifying the posted lists, and signing their pool and DE sheets. Youth 12/10 event may be split by gender if more than 6 entrants from both genders are registered. Otherwise medals will be given to top fencer from each gender. Team event will be seeded as per USFA Operations Manual, to Direct Elimination bracket with all places fenced out. ***Special Format For Qualifying Round for NYC Fencing Masters*** Senior Mixed Sabre event will use the "Canadian Elite Format." At the start, it will be fenced as normal (pools, with 100% promotion to a DE Table). Upon reaching the Round of 16, all remaining fencers will be seeded based upon results up to that point into two "super pools" of 8 fencers each, fenced upon 3 strips. 50% of the competitors will be promoted into a DE Bracket of 8, which will be fenced out as normal. In order to participate in the Qualifying round, competitors will need to pay an additional $40, which will be forwarded in its entirety to NYC Fencing Masters to help defray television production costs and support the USA Olympic Team. USFA MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED Fencers must be a USFA or FIE Member. Proof of membership is required. Pre-registered fencers will receive membership status information via askFRED email using most current USFA membership data. Age status will be checked against USFA membership data - bring proof of age if there are discrepancies. While fencers are encouraged to get memberships directly through the USFA prior to the competition, completed USFA membership forms will be accepted at the door. If you do not have proof of membership, you will be required to complete and pay for a membership. Payment for memberships is made directly to the USFA (NO CASH!); bring separate check or credit card number (preferred) for membership. Fencers under 18 years old are reminded they need the signature of a parent or guardian (not a coach) on BOTH the membership and waiver forms. WAIVER OF LIABILITY The North Texas Division Waiver of Liability is required to be filled out and signed.
