The Grand Canyon State Fencing Foundation (GCSFF) is pleased to announce its first Wheelchair Camp and WC Tournament March 12-14.
The camp is FREE and there are NO fees for fencing in the tournament .

Preregistration opens on 10/16/2009.

and tournament On March 12-14 – 2010
at the Dobson resort in Mesa, Arizona

The Best Western Dobson Ranch Inn is situated on ten beautiful

THE CAMP

The Camp will be on site in the Posada ballroom.
Lunch and Dinner will be served around the pool if weather permits
Although we are in the valley of the sun and the days are beautiful, Evenings can be a little cool sometimes in March, plan accordingly.

The Camp will be directed by:
USA WC National Coach: Leszck Stawicki
GCSFF Coach: Skip Shurtz (Olympian )

Classification will be provided by :
Chiropractic Orthopedist & Sports Physician: Dr. Donald C. DeFabio
Dr. Donald C. DeFabio is a member of the International Wheelchair Fencing Classification Committee, USFA Sports Medicine Staff, Medical Coordinator for both the US Wheelchair Fencing Team and the NJ Division of the USFA and provide event coverage for local, national and international fencing tournaments for able bodied and physically challenged athletes.
Dr. Donald C. DeFabio will provide classification of athletes during the camp.

Friday 12th
2:00 PM - 5:30 PM - Stretching, drills, individual lessons, bouting.
7:30 PM - Dinner around the pool
8:30 PM - Fencing video *Q & A.

Saturday 13th
10:00 AM - 12.30 PM - Stretching, drills, individual lessons.
12:30 PM - 2:30 PM - lunch, Relaxation,
2:30 PM - 6:30 PM - Tactics, Strategy, Control Bouting *Q & A
7:30 PM - Dinner -
8:30 PM - lectures from Dr Fabio on
-Sport Nutrition
-Injury prevention
-Warm Up and Cool Down

*During the camp you will be filmed on video so the coaches can review and discuss your fencing actions.
Tshirts and prizes will be given to fencers following different ” Best of “(to be announced at the camps).

Tournament :

The tournament is for wheelchair but during the camp AB's fencers will be there to train with WC fencers
