Summer National Qualifiers for the Minnesota Division! Participants may enter to qualify to attend the USA Fencing National Championships in Philadelphia, PA, July 3-12, 2021. Location: Center for Blade Arts! Please see the address above. Registration: Pre-registration closes at midnight the Monday before, May 31st, 2021. THERE ARE NO WALK-ONS. If you attempt to register for an event in person without being pre-registered, you will not be allowed to participate. $20 for the first event, $15 each additional event. The MN Division accepts checks, cash, or credit/debit cards. This is a USA Fencing-sanctioned tournament and competitive memberships are required - high school members must upgrade to a full competitive membership. All USA Fencing equipment rules will be enforced. Div II is open to all fencers born in 2007 or earlier, with ratings of a C or below in that weapon. The Div III qualifier (D and below) is part of the Div II Qualifier. Qualifiers are confusing, so here's what you need to know: The top 25% of eligible fencers (or top 3, whichever is greater) in Div II will qualify for Div II Nationals. The top 25% of eligible fencers (or top 3, whichever is greater) in Div II who did not qualify for Div II will qualify for Div III Nationals - that is, the top 25% of Ds, Es and Us in Div II who didn't qualify for Div II will qualify for Div III. Anyone who is eligible for Div III who qualifies for Div II also qualifies for Div III (ie Ds Es and Us). IMPORTANT: If an event has 3 or fewer fencers, participants will be auto-qualified and the event will NOT be fenced. We ask that if you are already qualified via another pathway, please DO NOT participate. This is to reduce the number of individuals in the space and promote safety for both fencers and staff. (MN Division II/III qualifiers were not run for the 2019/20 season). Note: there are no youth events for qualifiers this year as qualification for Summer Nationals is based on points standings from regional or national points, not local qualifiers. Qualification Paths for 2020/21 Season: https://www.usafencing.org/news_article/show/1151513 Please email us if you're confused or want to know what to register for. Face coverings must be two-layer cloth masks or surgical face coverings. Single-layer gaiters, bandannas, masks with vents and inserts that clip into the fencing mask and do not fully contact the athlete's face are not permitted. Masks may be briefly lowered for eating and drinking, but please distance yourself from other individuals before doing so. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be available, and a limited supply of extra masks in the event a mask breaks or becomes too wet. Please make sure to bring at least two of your own!
