Our Cavalier Camps are designed with the beginner in mind. Aimed at Kids age 5-12, we teach fencing in a fast-paced, fun envirionment. Games designed to increase conditioning, coordination, and quick thinking form a basis for our activities. The fencers will learn the proper stance, how to move, attack, and defend, and some basic strategies and tactics. Fencers who complete the camp receive a $100 discount on the club membership fee when they join the club.
INTRODUCTION TO FENCING
- Fencing is one of the oldest, safest and fastest growing sports in the world. Fencing is a high paced athletic activity that uniquely blends the mind and the body. Fencing allows you to become physically fit and healthy as well as develop your ability to solve problems and make sounds decisions while constantly being active. These characteristics help our students reach their full potential on and off the strip!
- Fencers will warm up with games design to help decision making and agility as well as general conditioning. The rest of the day will consist of periods for developing footwork, weapon drills, and fencing on strip. Much of the instruction takes the form of games to keep the action fast moving and engaging and help the fencers learn more quickly.
Camp hours are daily from 9:00am-12:00pm.
- Salle Mauro Fencing Academy is Houston's largest and most successful Fencing Academy. We welcome fencers of all ages and skill levels. We pride ourselves on teaching the fundamentals of fencing to our students as an opportunity for them to enjoy the sport recreationally and competitively if they so choose. Our experienced and dedicated coaching staff strives for nothing less than an exceptional fencing experience. Salle Mauro has produced over 20 National Champions.
Fencing can even lead to receive scholarships at prestigious universities such as Stanford, Colombia and Harvard.
