CIC is an introductory level provincial coaching certificate awarded by the OFA. It is aimed to those who are new to coaching, and coaching in instructional programs (e.g. schools or clubs) which focus on people who are new to the sport.

The CIC workshop focus on the theoretical modules. Theoretical Modules include: May 27 (9 am to 5 pm) The role and function of the CI; Participants and their sport needs; Ethical Practice; Basic rules and equipment; Planning a practice; Basic organisation of training competitions) and also practice sessions, with the opportunity to receive feedback from both facilitators and other instructors. Workshops are typically around 8 hours in duration. Westdale Fencing Club’s Sandra Dulac will be the course conductor who is the recipient of the 2012 Coaches Association of Ontario Grass Roots Coach Award. Cost $115 + HST Practical Hours Once you have completed the workshop, you need to put in 6 hours of practice working under an NCCP certified coach. Once you have done this, simply get them to write a letter confirming that you have spent at least 6 hours working under their supervision and submit this to the Ontario Fencing Association Office (info@fencingontario.ca). Preregistration opens on 05/10/2012. Preregistration closes on 05/25/2012.
