This clinic is built around fencing conditioning, planning the season, and nutrition and mental preparation pertaining to the preliminary stage of training. It will include footwork, blade work, partner drills and individual lessons.

Sport drinks and snacks will be provided. There are restaurants in the area for lunch or bring your lunch. Fees: $85 ($75 for IFC members) Limit 12 participants. Objectives: Every fencing season includes three periods – preparatory, competition and transition. This first clinic is geared toward the general preparation stage, and addresses its main aspects. The clinic is built around general conditioning, planning the fencing season, and mental preparation relevant to the preparatory period of training. It will include technique of basic footwork and bladework skills, conditioning sessions focused on speed and strength, partner drills, and individual lessons. Please, bring running shoes, shorts, two t-shirts, towel, water bottle, and any fencing equipment you have. You will be provided with the needed fencing equipment if you do not have any. Tentative Schedule: September 11, 2010 9am-11:45am – Periodization, Footwork, Conditioning Session (Speed), Individual Lessons I 11:45am-12:30pm – Lunch, Nutrition 12:30-3pm – Mental Preparation, Conditioning Session (Strength), Individual Lessons II Taught By Ina Harizanova Ina has coached fencing and swimming for over 14 years in the US. She has developed athletes to compete at the US Fencing and US Swimming Olympic Trials.
