New Jersey Division Open Team Foil Tournament

THE REGISTRATION PERIOD FOR THE MIXED FOIL TEAM EVENT is UNTIL 11:59 P.M. THURSDAY, May 16, 11:59 p.m.. A TEAM IS NOT CONSIDERED TO BE REGISTERED UNLESS THE TOURNAMENT FEES HAVE BEEN PAID. ($25 REGISTRATION and $100 EVENT FEE)

This is an Open event for Foil Fencing Teams.

Minimum of 4 teams must be PREREGISTERED & PAID by Wednesday , May 15, 2024 for the tournament to be held. (Registration ends Thursday, May 16, 2024.)

Entry Fee: $100 per team, $20 Registration Fee.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS

The Teams may be composed of the same gender or they may be mixed.

9:30 a.m. is the close of registration.

Preregistration closes on Thursday, May 16, 2024, 11:59 p.m.

WALK-IN REGISTRATION NOT PERMITTED.

TEAM FORMAT: Team event is single elimination with a fence off for third place. Tournament Organizer reserves the right to change the tournament dependent on the number of teams participating. Because of space constraints, this event has a maximum of 8 teams permitted. Teams will be wait-listed if the maximum is reached.

Direct elimination from beginning of competition. It is a Relay format, 9 bouts to a maximum score of 45 touches in increments of 5 touches or maximum time of 3 minutes for each bout. There will be a fence-off for 3rd place.

A team does not have to have fencers who are members of the same club to compete. There is a minimum of 3 persons per team and a maximum of 4.

ELIGIBILITY: Birth year 2010 or earlier. This tournament is hosted by the New Jersey Division, but does not restrict participation to New Jersey Division members.

All fencers must be current members of the USA Fencing. Please bring current membership card for check-in, which will be scanned. If you intend to join USA Fencing specifically to participate in this event, do so BEFORE the event and bring proof of membership. You must have the minimum of an Access Membership to compete in this event. Foreign fencers must have a USFA membership. Please go online to USA fencing.org/membership to apply for a foreign membership.

Team Check-In will begin an hour before the close of registration.

Your team roster does not need to be finalized by the registration deadline, but we request that you provide this information before the event starts for seeding purposes

Entry Fees

On time registration is $20 registration, $100 team event fee and ends on Thursday, May 16 at 11:59 p.m.

THERE WILL BE NO WALK-INS, and here are no exceptions to this policy.

THERE WILL BE NO REFUND OF THE REGISTRATION FEE OR ASKFRED.NET OR STRIPE FEES.

YOU ARE NOT CONSIDERED TO BE REGISTERED UNLESS YOU HAVE PAID THE REGISTRATION OR EVENT FEES. YOU MUST REGISTER ONLINE AND YOU MUST PAY ONLINE.

Please make sure that you have an email listed on your askfred registration in case the event organizers need to contact you.

The team and its fencers are considered registered when their names appear on the "Who's Preregistered?" list on the askFred listing for this tournament. You are not fully registered if your name appears as "incomplete" in this listing. It is your responsibility to ensure your registration.

There will be NO reminder emails sent to competitors that are registered without completed payments. It is your responsibility to be aware of the registration deadlines.

NO REFUNDS MAY BE REQUESTED AFTER Thursday, May 16, 2024. Refunds will be issued on event fees only. Refund checks are mailed 4 to 6 weeks after the tournament.

Medals will be awarded for 1st through 3rd place for each event. Light Sabers will be awarded to the winning team.

Individuals, including fencers, plus-ones, referees or others, should stay home and must not enter the fencing venue or competition if they have tested positive for, or are showing COVID-19 symptoms.

EQUIPMENT:

A full fencing Jacket (FIE not required), a plastron, a glove, and fencing knickers are required to fence. Socks must cover all of the leg not covered by the knickers.

The mask used must be appropriate to the weapon being fenced. NOTE to Leon Paul brand MASK owners: If you have the Leon Paul "X-Change" mask with the plastic disk in back, please note that a secondary neck strap is now REQUIRED for all USA Fencing domestic events. The secondary strap requirement will be enforced and non-conforming equipment will be disallowed. (Note: the L.P. X-Change mask model with the more traditional tongue may be worn without the secondary strap.) Please consult your coach or the armorer with any questions.
